THE MINISTER for Infrastructure has announced the safety of the Bass Highway, Tasmania will be reviewed.
Local politicians and residents have been petitioning the Federal Government to prioritise upgrades for the stretch of road they claim to be unsafe.
The review will include a crash analysis, junction layout and examination of signage for all junctions and intersections onto the highway between Doctors Rocks and Inglis St.
The Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources says it is also willing to discuss the suggestion of the possible closure of some access roads onto the highway.
The local council claims it is willing to work with the department and provide any information they require to get a very amicable outcome so we can improve the safety of all intersections.
The Government claims it will only consider prioritising upgrades after detailed planning studies and an examination of accident records are conducted.
