Reseal work undertaken near helipad

THE Queensland Government has undertaken reseal work on the Cunningham Highway at the northern end of Cunningham's Gap. Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace said the work was carried out near the helipad corner following his recent discussions with Scenic Rim Regional Council Mayor John Brent.

"The safety of all road users is my number one priority and following useful discussions with Councillor Brent, sections of the Cunningham Highway most in need of upgrading were able to be identified," Wallace said.
Interim reseal work was undertaken to alleviate concerns about this section of road. The Cunningham Highway is a federally funded highway and the state Government has sought funds over recent years to upgrade this section of road and will continue to do so.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads is in the process of submitting a substantial funding request to the Federal Government seeking funds to undertake a longer-term solution to improve safety and road conditions on the highway.
Cunningham Highway is an integral part of the national road network and a major link between Ipswich and Warwick as well as linking Boonah and Beaudesert to the Gold Coast.
