LOADING and unloading equipment specialist Thorworld Industries has developed a specialist website with information on mobile yard ramps for potential purchasers, hirers or users.
Mobile yard ramps are sometimes referred to as vehicle or container loading ramps.
The Thorworld Industries site explains what a yard ramp is, and outlines their advantages, together with information about ramp design and key features.
The site features a useful section on how to select the right kind of loading ramp for a specific application; depending on the expected frequency of use, the kind of loads to be moved, and the type of trucks which will use it.
Also included are the various factors that need to be taken into consideration when deciding whether to rent or buy a yard ramp.
All of the various types of yard ramps are described in detail, together with information about the appropriate safety and quality standards.
John Meale, Managing Director of Thorworld Industries, says the company has produced the website as a service to the earthmoving industry.

Thorworld ramps are available as Standard, Deluxe and Super Deluxe (light, medium and heavy duty) models, with 6,000 kg, 7,000 kg, 10,000 kg, 12,000 kg or 15,000 kg capacities and in lengths from 11 to 12.2 metres. Ruggedly built of solid beam construction, they have a serrated open grid deck for positive traction in all weathers.
The Super Deluxe/Recycling Ramp is available in both 12 and 15t capacities and they are ideal for heavy duty applications, typically on a consistent three-shift operation, in the most rigorous working environments such as the recycling industry.
The Deluxe Ramp is available in a 10t capacity and is ideally suited for medium duty applications, such as continual use on a single shift basis.
The Standard Ramp is available in 6, 7 and 10t capacities, which are suitable for light duty applications where the ramp may only be in use up to three or four times a day.
A hand operated hydraulic pump quickly raises the ramp to the required height and they are equipped as standard with 1.8m of safety chain on each side for securing the ramp to the truck or loading dock.
