BOMAG has just completed delivery of 12 type BW 177 DH4 single drum compaction rollers to ALC for the British Ministry of Defence (MOD).
ALC provides the MOD with ‘C
Vehicle’ capability for its civil engineering and rough terrain mechanical handling requirements, worldwide. The
BOMAG 7t rollers will be used by The Royal Engineers on vital construction projects and they could be called upon to work anywhere in the world.
The machines are modified to meet the exacting requirements of their demanding role. Modifications were carried out during the manufacturing process. The BW 177 DH-4 features an ergonomic cab environment, a load sensitive drive system which significantly reduces fuel consumption and integrated Anti Slip Control which allows the machine to compact soil on steep gradients safely.
The machines are also fitted with the
BOMAG Evib meter. This helps reduce the cost of soil compaction by giving the operator a read-out of the soil stiffness under the machine, during actual compaction in ‘real time’. The Evib meter consists of two acceleration transducers, an electronic central processing unit and the Evib analogue display in the cab. The use of this feature helps reduce unnecessary passes by indicating when the required level of compaction has been achieved.
