Work to start on Warrego Highway and Brisbane Valley Highway interchange

QUEENSLAND Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace has announced a $1 million safety improvement upgrade for the Warrego Highway and Brisbane Valley Highway interchange. Works would take place from 23 November 2009 with the completion expected to be early next year, weather permitting.

The highway interchange works will extend the right-turn lane for motorists travelling westbound from the Warrego Highway onto the Brisbane Valley Highway.
The right-turn lane will be extended by a further 200m, which will significantly reduce the number of vehicles required to slow down or stop on the fast lane of the Warrego Highway in order to turn right onto Brisbane Valley Highway. This will provide safer shelter for turning vehicles from through traffic.
The intersection upgrade is one of projects recently completed or currently in construction along the Warrego Highway between Ipswich and Toowoomba. Other works include:
- Newly constructed slip lane at the intersection of Haigslea-Amberley Road
- Safety improvements at the Villis Road intersection at Plainland, and
- Current improvements to the Minden crossroads intersection include resurfacing, line marking and the construction of a new west bound slip lane.
